Society of Australian Sexologists

The Society of Australian Sexologists Ltd is the National organisation, representing health and allied health professionals working in the area of sex therapy, sexual health/sexology. The society is a member-organisation of the Asia Oceania Federation of Sexology (AOFS), the regional body, and the World Association of Sexual Health (WAS), the international body. The society is also a founding member-organisation of the Australian Sexual Health Alliance (ASHA) – a body of professional organisations working in the broader sexual health arena in Australia. The Society of Australian Sexologists Ltd is registered as a charity with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission ABN 86163613661.

The society offers membership, professional development, supervision and a rigorous accreditation process for those practicing as psychosexual counsellors/sex therapists/sexologists and sexuality educators. Members abide by a strict Code of Ethics and Practice and the WAS Millennium Declaration of Sexual Rights. One of the goals of the Society is to self-regulate the practice of psychosexual therapy and sexuality education, for the protection of our communities, in particular those at an increased risk and vulnerability.

SAS Mission statement

To encourage and promote the practice of sexology and sexual health for the benefit of members and the communities they serve through the advancement of the scientific study of sexual counselling, therapy and education, and the development and maintenance of professional ethics and standards including the accreditation and recognition of professionals.

The Society of Australian Sexologists Ltd. is dedicated to supporting and enhancing the practice of professionals working in the areas of sexology and sexual health with the aim to promote the positive integration of sexuality into people’s lives.
