Working collaboratively with trans and gender diverse clients.

  • 2 Sep 2021
  • 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM
  • WA AIDS Council 664 Murray St, West Perth

The WA branch of the Society of Australian Sexologists Ltd. is proud to present
In conversation with …
Dr. Penny Wood, Suzanne Calver, and Jaini Shah
Working collaboratively with trans and gender diverse clients.
Gender diverse people have unique experiences and needs from healthcare, and therapeutic environments and services. Fostering an understanding and supportive relationship with people whose experiences and perspectives may have elements that are very different from our own, and from our knowledge and training can be a challenge. Developing knowledge based insight and skill is essential in the delivery of ethical healthcare.
This session will provide insight to the therapeutic and medical aspects of healthcare for gender diverse clients. It will have two main parts, Dr Penny Wood will discuss hormone therapy, and the medical aspects of transitioning and care; and Suzanne Calver and Jaini Shah will present on ways to work therapeutically with clients.
This workshop will be highly informative and useful to sexologists, therapists, psychologists, general practitioners, allied health professionals, students and educators.
