What is an accredited sexologist?

The Society of Australian Sexologists Ltd (SAS) has developed evidence-based guidelines for the accreditation of sexologists who work as psychosexual therapists, sex therapists, and sexuality educators. The accreditation standards of the Society are comparable to the standards set by such international accreditation bodies as American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists (AASECT) in the United States, and the College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists (COSRT) in the United Kingdom. The Society offers accreditation of professional sexologists at the standards of Clinical and Provisional. Self-regulation through accreditation ensures a higher level of professionalism in sexology.
