Accreditation

The Society of Australian Sexologists (SAS) provides an accreditation pathway for sexologists wanting to work as a psychosexual therapist or sexuality educator. The accreditation standards of the Society are comparable to the standards set by such international accreditation bodies as American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists (AASECT) in the United States, and the College of Sexual and Relationships Therapists (COSRT) in the United Kingdom. The Society offers accreditation at the standards of Clinical and Provisional. Self-regulation through accreditation ensures a higher level of professionalism in psychosexual therapy and sexuality education.

  • Professional education: Recognising the completion of advanced studies specifically relating to both biological and psychosocial aspects of sexuality to support best practice

  • Extensive experience: Minimum requirements of practical experience and client contact  hours or education delivery to establish credentials and professionalism

  • Ongoing supervision: Strengthening skills and linking knowledge with practice, ensuring accredited sexologists demonstrate awareness and understanding

  • Ongoing learning: Current competency in a rapidly changing socio-cultural environment through ongoing learning, attitudes & values reflection, and skills updates
