This workshop is for therapists wanting to include couple work in their practice but don't know where to start, Or maybe have begun couple work and are feeling stuck. This 2 day workshop for counsellors and therapists will provide support to begin working with couples, or if already seeing couples, encourage and support this work, providing a framework for assessment and practice. Practitioners who only see individuals will also gain encouragement and support to help their clients with relationship issues and concerns. This jam packed 2 day workshop will focus on relationships for day 1, and on day 2 will focus on talking to clients about sex in an open and encouraging way, and to support couples with sexual issues.
Day 1: Introduction to Emotion Focused Therapy for Couples.
Theory from both Greenberg and Johnson in an experiential learning mode will be explored; including practice in small groups, watching/listening to recordings from both demonstrations and real couples. There will be time throughout the day for group discussion and questions.
Day 2: Talking about Sex in your Counselling or Therapy practice.
'How comfortable are you in talking about sex with your clients? Do you ask them? A great relationship doesn't necessarily mean the couple will have a great sex life, and a great sex life doesn't always equate with a great relationship. Therapists, counsellors and other professionals are even less likely to ask individuals seeking help how they are going sexually, and yet this is a very important aspect of overall wellbeing for most people.
